4/26/2013, Quincy, MA — J. Calnan & Associates, Inc., Leggat McCall and community leaders gathered to celebrate the milestone Topping-Off ceremony for Schneider Electric located at 800 Federal Street in Andover, MA. Once completed, the three story complex will serve as a new Research & Development center for Schneider Electric, a global specialist in energy management with operations in more than 100 countries.
This project involves the construction of a new 77,288 RSF addition (with related sitework) to the existing 158,655 RSF building. Additionally, the team of Perkins + Will, architecture and RDK, engineering, will be responsible for the tenant improvement work totaling 235,943 RSF to both the existing 158,655 RSF building and the new 77,288 RSF addition. The project includes over 800 pieces of steel or roughly 315 tons overall. The project will also include a chilled beam mechanical system and will be applying for LEED Certification.
Taking part in the longstanding tradition, J. Calnan & Associates’ Senior Project Manager, Daniel Charest, reflected on the progress of the project to date, expressing his appreciation to be involved with such an important project. “We are thrilled to play a role in this very important project. Today’s ceremony is a great opportunity to look back on how far we’ve come in just a couple months of construction and to give thanks to everyone that has worked extremely hard to get us here. Following the speakers, attendees took the opportunity to personally sign the beam, which was then lowered into place with a traditional evergreen tree. More than 100 people attended the ceremony including the project team of J. Calnan & Associates, Leggat McCall, Perkins and Will, several subcontractors, and employees from Schneider Electric.
The project which broke ground in the first of the year will be completed in late 2013.
