Calnan & Associates, one of New England’s leading construction management firms specializing in world-class preconstruction and construction projects, recently completed a fast-track renovation project for Shire, one of the world’s leading specialty biopharmaceutical companies. Shire’s offices are located at 185 Alewife Brook Parkway in Cambridge.
The project consisted of renovating nearly 15,000 square feet of space in the 1st floor of the fully operational building. Some of the highlights include: a complete Mechanical & Electrical overhaul including new switchgear with full metering capabilities, 3 New Air Handling units and a significant amount of energy efficient equipment; high-end offices combined with collaborative work stations; state-of-the-art conference rooms utilizing LIFESPACE Wall Systems as well as the addition of a new, modern café which duals as a conferencing and presentation facility. The team also complied with all the necessary design, Indoor Air Quality management, Construction Waste Management, and sustainable materials required to meeting LEED standards. The team anticipates LEED Silver status for its efforts.
The project team also included Elkus Manfredi, architecture and RG Vanderweil, engineering.
