PEGA’s Edge Center for Innovation Wins “Best New Small Workplace” Award at CoreNet New England Gala

Software powerhouse Pegasystems was honored with the “Best New Small Workplace” award at CoreNet New England’s Awards of Excellence Gala on Thursday, April 27th. The annual event highlights the year’s top-performing people, firms, and projects within New England’s corporate real estate culture. This year’s other honorees included PepsiCo and Verizon for their respective new workplaces. In addition, CoreNet New England President and J. Calnan & Associates Partner Maureen Rystrom also presented Cynthia Keliher of McCarter & English with the esteemed Doug Noonan President’s Award.


JC&A has a long-standing relationship with Pegasystems, delivering multiple projects over the past decade, including their latest award-winning 32,000 SF Edge Center for Innovation located at 1 Main Street in Cambridge.


JC&A partnered once again with VCA, WB Engineers, and Officeworksto complete this project, which opened its doors in June 2022 to put power into clients’ hands with the support of Pega experts. The Edge Center for Innovation features stunning panoramic views, a customized LED-lit hallway, a living wall bearing the PEGA logo, a kitchenette with a coffee bar, a town hall-style meeting center, and customizable full-length panels flanking the front door to showcase the day’s agenda and greet guests. In addition, the multiple stat—of-the-art conference suites feature back-of-the-house servers to prepare for hospitality services while meetings are ongoing.


Additional unique features include a Nexnovo wall made of glass panels that can be customized for each meeting and visiting client. The town hall meeting room features a Planar wall; a state-of-the-art LED Video Wall made of multiple customizable screens. This facility has enabled Pega to focus on maintaining strong client relationships and helping clients achieve their business goals.

As Director of Preconstruction., J.R. has 20 years of experience in the A/E/C industry ranging from conceptual estimates to delivering GMP pricing with hard bid/lump sum as well as value analysis and constructability reviews His extensive experience with life science, corporate buildouts, and ground-up buildings has made him a valuable asset to the JC&A family. J.R.’s involvement in multiple projects ranging in size and complexity from 245 5th Ave., 690 Canton, Merchant’s Row, Boston Dynamics, irobot, and Boston Harley-Davidson makes him an asset for JCA and our clients.

Beyond being our “go-to” on our cornerstone projects, J.R. is constantly a mentor helping with the overall development of the Estimating department. He leads by example, his estimating skillset, technical aptitude, organization, and preconstruction game-planning through final client delivery is second to none.

J.R. holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Construction Management from The University of Southern Mississippi and is a LEED Accredited Professional. He also proudly serves on the Duxbury Youth Baseball board. When he’s not coaching baseball, J.R. spends time on the beach in Duxbury, MA with his family.
