This August, Steve Copeland celebrates a decade with JC&A—and those who’ve worked with him know it’s been ten years marked by hard work, integrity, and a consistently positive attitude. From starting as an Assistant Superintendent to now overseeing increasingly complex project scopes, Steve’s growth has been steady, well-earned, and deeply appreciated by clients and teammates alike.
Steve’s introduction to construction began with a field engineering internship at John Moriarty & Associates, where his passion for building took root on high-rise jobs in Boston. But it was a family connection that ultimately led him to JC&A—his Uncle Tom Hamill, a partner at Redgate, knew Ralph Cox, whose son Dylan helped open the door for Steve to interview with John Noone. And the rest, as they say, is history.
Over the years, Steve has become known not just for his technical acumen and drive to complete projects under tough deadlines, but also for the way he brings energy, professionalism—and approachability—to every jobsite. At JC&A, we often say our people are not only really good at what they do, but also genuinely likable. Steve embodies that balance to a tee.
Ask him his proudest moment, and he’ll say it’s not one—but many. For Steve, every project that ends with a satisfied client is a win worth celebrating. He’s delivered standout results on projects like Tokio Marine, Clarks, Delaware Life, and Fieldwork. One particularly meaningful moment came when he helped lead a fast-track renovation for Alexandria Real Estate’s tenant, Mark Development. In just three and a half weeks, Steve delivered two executive offices and a refreshed reception area—earning client praise and helping JC&A secure additional work.
More recently, Steve played a part in our pursuit of the Global Partners project. While he was unable to attend the interview due to a long-planned vacation, his intro video (and signature clean-cut charm) still made a positive impression. It’s no surprise our friends at Tokio Marine joke he could be part of a boy band.
Whether navigating the challenges of a 100-year-old building in downtown Gloucester for Action Inc. or working weekends to meet a deadline, Steve’s commitment to “The JC&A Way” is clear. To him, that means integrity, accountability, hard work, teamwork, and delivering quality experiences that build long-lasting relationships.
And while Steve’s favorite JC&A tradition is our legendary Holiday Party, his day-to-day impact is just as celebrated.
Ten years in, Steve is still just getting started: “I’m looking forward to the next 10,” he says.
And so are we.
