JC&A, a leading provider of preconstruction and construction management services, is pleased to announce the successful completion of the Cambridgeport Labs project, located at 167 Sidney Street and 99 Erie Street in the Cambridgeport neighborhood of East Cambridge, MA. This marks a significant milestone in a long-term collaboration with Barings and Greatland Realty Partners.
The project involved the repositioning and renovation of two adjacent buildings, encompassing approximately 56,000 square feet of office and lab space, including over 34,000 square feet of built-out BL2 laboratory space.
“We are excited to have partnered with Barings and Greatland on this transformative project,” said Jim Cahill, President of JC&A. “This project is a prime example of our commitment to providing innovative solutions during preconstruction, ensuring that ownership’s vision was fully realized while optimizing costs and timelines.”
Through an extensive preconstruction process, JC&A worked closely with Barings and Greatland to assess multiple repositioning and lab options, helping reshape the original vision for the properties. This collaboration led to substantial savings and allowed the project to move forward smoothly.
“JC&A’s expertise and deep understanding of the lab and life sciences sector were key in making this project a success,” said Kevin Miller, Head of Real Estate Acquisitions for the Eastern U.S. “The Cambridgeport Labs project reflects our ongoing commitment to expanding our life sciences footprint in East Cambridge, a globally recognized hub for innovation.”
“Working with JC&A has been a highly productive experience,” added Kevin Sheehan and Phil Dorman, co-founders of Greatland Realty Partners. “Their ability to bring creative solutions to the table helped us enhance the potential of these buildings, which will further cement East Cambridge as the epicenter of the life sciences industry.”
The Cambridgeport Labs project is part of a growing investment in the life sciences ecosystem in East Cambridge, a thriving area that continues to attract top-tier life science companies. When complete, the newly repositioned buildings will offer state-of-the-art laboratory spaces that meet the rigorous demands of the industry.
