9/5/2014, Quincy, MA — J. Calnan & Associates, a leader in providing preconstruction and construction management services in the Academic, Corporate, Healthcare and Science & Technology markets, recently announced the completion of three renovation projects for Babson College in time for the school year to begin.
The projects included renovations to 2 residence buildings, Keith Hall and Park Manor North, as well as renovations to the lecture center at Olin Hall. The Keith Hall project required substantial renovations to two towers that provide special-interest housing for students who are passionate about by Greek life. In total, 33 bedrooms, 12 floors (6 per tower), 10 bathrooms, common areas and kitchenettes were all upgraded for the students. Additionally, the towers required new mechanical and HVAC systems. Park Manor North, another dormitory, was a smaller project that included renovations to all of the bathrooms as well as new MEFP systems throughout. At Olin Hall, the JC&A team converted space in the lecture center to serve as a feature studio for classrooms moving forward. The design loosely represents a garage (where Steve Jobs created Apple) and is intended to inspire Babson’s MBA students.
On a side note, JC&A is very proud of Babson’s involvement with Team IMPACT, a non-profit founded, in part, by members of the JC&A team. The program, founded 3 years ago, matches children who have life threatening illnesses with college athletic teams to improve their quality of life socially and psychologically. Children gain strength, a sense of belonging and support, and, in turn, student athletes are taught lessons about courage and resiliency that they can’t learn in a classroom.
Currently, Team IMPACT has over 10,000 program participants of which Babson College is a strong supporter. To date, Babson boasts 6 new Beavers on their roster including: 15 year old, Alex Chamoun, Men’s Basketball; 11 year old Brendan Barrie, Men’s Baseball; 12 year old Harry Clark, Men’s Lacrosse; 7 year old Lily Swallow, Softball; 11 year old Olivia Bonfilio, Field Hockey and 10 year old Timmy Dowdy, Men’s Ice Hockey.
