J. Calnan & Associates Partners with AutoStore to Deliver State-of-the-Art U.S. Headquarters in Salem, NH

J. Calnan & Associates (JC&A), the leading construction manager, is proud to announce its successful collaboration with AutoStore™, Market Square Architects, and BLW Engineers on the completion of AutoStore’s new U.S. headquarters located at Tuscan Village in Salem, New Hampshire. The 34,500 square-foot fit-out spans three floors and is designed to reflect AutoStore’s cutting-edge automation technology, offering a state-of-the-art workspace that supports the company’s expanding operations in North America.

 

AutoStore, a global leader in warehouse automation, uses high-speed robots on a grid system to revolutionize the process of small order fulfillment. The newly designed headquarters features a wide variety of spaces, including private offices, a sales demo space, R&D facilities, training rooms, classrooms, wellness spaces, and break-out collaboration areas. It also includes employee-friendly amenities like kitchens on every floor, a Mother’s room, and a wellness room, providing a flexible and dynamic working environment that supports innovation and collaboration.

 

The relocation of AutoStore’s U.S. headquarters to Salem is part of the company’s broader commitment to growing its presence in the North American Automated Storage and Retrieval Systems (ASRS) market. The new facility will serve as the home for the company’s AutoStore Academy, offering hands-on and virtual training for partners in system integration, installation, and maintenance. The facility will also feature an Experience Center, where customers can witness live demonstrations of AutoStore’s storage and retrieval system in action.

 

The move to Salem will bring over 100 new jobs to the region and is expected to accelerate AutoStore’s continued growth, enhancing its ability to serve clients in various industries, including retail, logistics, and e-commerce. The new headquarters underscores AutoStore’s commitment to driving technological innovation and expanding automated fulfillment solutions across North America and globally.

As Director of Preconstruction., J.R. has 20 years of experience in the A/E/C industry ranging from conceptual estimates to delivering GMP pricing with hard bid/lump sum as well as value analysis and constructability reviews His extensive experience with life science, corporate buildouts, and ground-up buildings has made him a valuable asset to the JC&A family. J.R.’s involvement in multiple projects ranging in size and complexity from 245 5th Ave., 690 Canton, Merchant’s Row, Boston Dynamics, irobot, and Boston Harley-Davidson makes him an asset for JCA and our clients.

Beyond being our “go-to” on our cornerstone projects, J.R. is constantly a mentor helping with the overall development of the Estimating department. He leads by example, his estimating skillset, technical aptitude, organization, and preconstruction game-planning through final client delivery is second to none.

J.R. holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Construction Management from The University of Southern Mississippi and is a LEED Accredited Professional. He also proudly serves on the Duxbury Youth Baseball board. When he’s not coaching baseball, J.R. spends time on the beach in Duxbury, MA with his family.
