For anyone who has met Kassia, she seems to be the girl who does it all – she is now a full-time JC&A Assistant Superintendent, a full-time graduate student, pursuing her degree at night from the Boston Architectural College, and if that’s not enough to keep her busy, she is the Vice President of the BAC’s American Institute of Architectural Students (AIAS) chapter.
Following her passion for sustainable and inclusive design and construction, JC&A first caught Kassia’s eye when she joined the CREST (Commercial Real Estate Success Training) internship program, offered through JC&A’s relationship with CoreNet. Upon applying for CREST, Kassia was asked to research companies who were in the program and look for one whose values most closely aligned with her own. To her, JC&A was a no brainer, calling us her “top choice”.
“One the values that drew me in most to JC&A is entrepreneurship. Embracing entrepreneurship, supporting a go-getter attitude and building strong relationships with all project stakeholders – subcontractors, engineers, designers, brokers, and clients. Witnessing this first hand shows me what my future can be at JC&A and I continue to be inspired by it.”
Kassia originally joined our team as a Project Management intern in the Spring of 2023, and almost immediately assumed the responsibilities of an Assistant Superintendent intern instead. Reflecting on her proudest achievement (so far) at JC&A, Kassia fondly recalls taking on the challenge of running Delaware Life alone for a few days over the summer. With Steve Copeland as her mentor, she managed the install of new entrance doors solo. What may sound like a small job to some sticks out as a momentous occasion for Kassia, who could feel her confidence and communication blossoming from the opportunity.
With so much on her plate, it’s hard to imagine that Kassia has time for anything else, but she still manages to attend many PLA! Professional Ladies Association events and help out with the occasional JCAres volunteer opportunity, which she calls her favorite JC&A tradition. “Some of my favorite JC&A traditions are when we share our time with future generations and engage in volunteer work. Being part of doing good work is being able to share it with others.”
Kassia went on to describe what the “JC&A Way” means to her, a relatively new teammate.
In just under a year, Kassia has already learned that “The collaborative and celebratory spirit of the JC&A Family goes beyond the office walls, creating unity and shared success outside. I feel fortunate to have spent my summer in this outstanding environment, alongside skilled individuals who excel in their roles. The JC&A team not only collaborates and thrives within the company but also nurtures relationships beyond its boundaries. Being part of such a positive and capable team has truly been rewarding. I consider myself truly lucky to have invested my summer and my future in a place of excellence, surrounded by remarkable people who excel in the work they do.”
I think we can all agree that the future is bright with Kassia on board!
