We’re proud to spotlight Mike Caruso, who was recently promoted to Senior Project Superintendent—a role that reflects his outstanding contributions, leadership, and commitment to both project excellence and the people around him.
Mike joined JC&A two and a half years ago after hearing about the company from Chet Braun. “We were in a wedding party together a few years ago and talked about the company culture, projects, and direction. After conversations with a few other contractors who echoed the same sentiments, I realized it was more of a pattern than a coincidence.”
Mike’s path into construction began in 2005. Before becoming a superintendent in 2015, he was an electrician, foreman, and subcontractor project lead—giving him a well-rounded perspective in the field. His deep experience in life sciences, including cGMP spaces, vivariums, and infrastructure upgrades, has proven invaluable on projects like 690 Canton Street and Abiomed.
Originally hired as a Superintendent, Mike’s recent promotion to Senior Superintendent has expanded his role to include mentoring junior staff, providing technical training, and contributing to early project planning—all while continuing to lead in the field. “The day-to-day work is primarily the same,” he shared, “but I’m now getting more involved in upcoming projects from a high-level perspective, which is interesting to me.”
Among his proudest moments? “Hitting a project milestone date on the dot that was set 18 months earlier at 690 Canton Street. It was a great team with plenty of support to make it happen.”
When asked what “The JC&A Way” means to him, Mike didn’t hesitate: “100% Culture.” He pointed to the relationships, the quality, and the balance between personal and professional life as the foundation of that culture. He also values JC&A’s monthly superintendent meetings and the quarterly all-company meetings. “We all have so much going on, and to have that level of participation in everyone’s busy schedule is great. It’s nice to see everyone and hear from different departments within the company.”
Mike’s leadership and work ethic reflect the values that make JC&A a Best Place to Work—a strong sense of team, a shared commitment to doing great work, and a culture that supports growth and collaboration. His proactive mindset and ability to build meaningful relationships across project teams continue to make a lasting impact.
And if you’ve spent any time with Mike, you know his competitive edge is hard to miss. Whether he’s bowling, golfing, or playing bubble hockey at the office, he brings the same drive and determination that fuel his success on the job. He’s always looking to win—and may even enjoy the glory (and a little gloating) when he does. That spirited competitiveness mirrors JC&A’s culture, where pride, performance, and a little friendly rivalry inspire everyone to bring their best every day.
Outside of work, Mike enjoys spending time with his daughters, Cecilia and Juliette, and continues to be an integral part of the JC&A family.
