Meet Mat Cahill, a dedicated Senior Superintendent who embodies the JC&A spirit in every role he takes on. When he’s on-site, you’ll find him sporting the standard black collared JC&A gear, but outside of work—whether on the golf course or at holiday gatherings—he’s known for his signature style featuring bold patterns and bright colors.
Mat joined JC&A over 14 years ago, drawn to the company, as both his father and brother worked here. He knew it was a special place but wanted to gain experience elsewhere first. With that outside experience under his belt, he initially came on board for a single project, essentially filling a Superintendent spot that needed to be filled. But thanks to his talent and work ethic, Mat quickly proved his worth, earning a permanent position and growing into the role of Senior Superintendent.
Throughout his time at JC&A, Mat has worked on numerous projects, many for Boston Properties. His favorite projects include 880 Winter Street, ZoomInfo, Doble, Aetna, and various assignments at Bay Colony. One standout project was 880 Winter Street in Waltham—a 270,000-square-foot endeavor spanning three floors and four wings, which at its peak involved a team of 300 workers. Despite facing design challenges and subcontractor manpower issues, Mat remained a steady force, meeting project milestones and keeping our very important client satisfied. Boston Properties repeatedly expressed their appreciation for Mat’s ability to hold everyone accountable and follow through on commitments, a testament to his collaborative spirit and dedication to client satisfaction.
Beyond his role in project execution, Mat’s commitment extends to fostering relationships and maintaining open communication. His coordination with the Waltham Inspectional Services Department was crucial in securing timely inspections, enabling the project to stay on schedule. Mat’s approach to addressing the needs of Boston Properties and other clients keeps them coming back. His respect and collaborative nature make him a valued teammate and a leader in the field.
When asked about his proudest moments at JC&A, Mat notes that it’s the personal relationships he’s built over the years that mean the most to him, spanning colleagues, clients, and partners alike. His favorite JC&A tradition? That would be the Spooktacular Halloween event—a favorite for his three daughters, who always look forward to the festivities.
The JC&A Way, to Mat, means doing things the right way while building strong relationships and leaning on those relationships for success. So next time you see Mat, take a moment to thank him for his hard work, his leadership, and his unwavering commitment to JC&A’s values.
