Catch Up with Katrina Madrid

Anyone who walks through the JC&A office doors or calls our main line has undoubtedly been greeted by the warm smile or friendly voice of Katrina. For nearly ten years, she has been the steady, welcoming presence at the front desk—the person who keeps our office buzzing, our calls routed seamlessly, and our supers in the field supplied with whatever they need.

Katrina’s journey to JC&A began when a headhunter reached out to her about interviewing with a construction company in Quincy known for its close-knit, family-oriented culture. At the time, she was commuting into Boston as an executive assistant, hoping for a better work/life balance and more time with her family. From the moment she sat down for her JC&A interview, she sensed something special. She knew immediately that this was where she wanted to be.

She joined the team as a receptionist and office administrator—a role she proudly holds today, though its scope has grown considerably. Katrina answers phones, greets guests, routes subcontracts in DocuSign, assists Superintendents in the field, and handles countless office needs big and small. And because she brings her full personality into the job, she has also become known for her unofficial role as JC&A’s office bartender (Margaritas, anyone!?) when the occasion calls for it. Rolling up her sleeves and making things fun is simply part of who she is. She’s professional, warm, and not afraid to speak up.

Ask her about her proudest moments, and Katrina will tell you they happen at every company event she helps bring to life. She loves planning gatherings, watching ideas take shape, and seeing coworkers and their families enjoy time together. Her “project” list includes coordinating internal gatherings like Tailgate Potlucks, St. Patrick’s Day festivities, Red Sox Opening Day, ice cream socials, summer parking lot parties, Dog Days of Summer, kickball games, Halloween Spooktacular, Thanksgiving Potluck, Turkey Day distributions…the list goes on. Though she’ll never take full credit, her fingerprints are on some of JC&A’s most memorable traditions.

Of all those traditions, JC&A’s Halloween Spooktacular and the Thanksgiving Potluck are her favorites. She loves watching employees’ kids trick-or-treat through the “haunted” office and seeing families grow year after year. This past Halloween was especially memorable for her, with so many spouses and children joining in the fun. The Thanksgiving Potluck also holds a special place in her heart—listening to coworkers share the stories behind their family dishes and watching the long line wind through the kitchen always reminds her how strong and unique our workplace community truly is.

To Katrina, “The JC&A Way” means doing the right thing and getting it done—whether that’s helping with administrative needs or simply being someone a colleague can talk to. Sitting at the front desk means she’s often the first stop for questions, ideas, or quick conversations, and she considers that an honor.

Outside the office, Katrina is a devoted wife and a proud mom to CT. And while she may be polite and professional behind the desk, don’t let that fool you—she’s also a fierce hockey mom, unafraid to cheer loudly and passionately from the stands when her son hits the ice.

What she loves most about JC&A is the genuine friendship and trust she feels here. Every day, she comes to a job she loves and to people who make it even better. She appreciates the freedom to be present for the important moments in life—kids’ sports, parent-teacher meetings, community commitments—and she believes there’s simply no better place to work.

After nearly a decade, Katrina remains one of JC&A’s brightest constants: welcoming, organized, dependable, not afraid to speak her mind, and always ready to make someone’s day a little better. We are lucky to have her at the front desk—and even luckier to have her as part of our JC&A family.
