Construction of new 163 Key Hotel Reaches Important Milestone

J. Calnan & Associates, CSM Lodging, Group One and Atlantic Management celebrate the topping off The Hilton Garden Inn located in Marlborough, MA.  The new 5-Story, 105,000-square-foot hotel is part of the Marlborough Hills mixed-use “Live-Work-Play-Stay” development.

The upscale Hilton Garden Inn is slated to open Spring, 2016 and will offer 163 high quality hotel rooms, parking, a full service restaurant and bar, fitness room, pool, conference facilities, and breakout rooms.

The Marlborough Hills project is a real estate development that has transformed an outdated, vacant business park, previously home to Hewlett-Packard, into one of the most vibrant mixed-use development centers in New England, featuring commercial office, retail, residential, hotel, and pedestrian space.

The development features up to 1.05 million square feet suited for corporate office space, R&D, bio-tech, and technology uses, 350 new residential units and an estimated 50,000 square feet of retail including a daycare center, restaurant, market, coffee shop, banking, dry-cleaning, and other service amenities all within walking distance.

As Director of Preconstruction., J.R. has 20 years of experience in the A/E/C industry ranging from conceptual estimates to delivering GMP pricing with hard bid/lump sum as well as value analysis and constructability reviews His extensive experience with life science, corporate buildouts, and ground-up buildings has made him a valuable asset to the JC&A family. J.R.’s involvement in multiple projects ranging in size and complexity from 245 5th Ave., 690 Canton, Merchant’s Row, Boston Dynamics, irobot, and Boston Harley-Davidson makes him an asset for JCA and our clients.

Beyond being our “go-to” on our cornerstone projects, J.R. is constantly a mentor helping with the overall development of the Estimating department. He leads by example, his estimating skillset, technical aptitude, organization, and preconstruction game-planning through final client delivery is second to none.

J.R. holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Construction Management from The University of Southern Mississippi and is a LEED Accredited Professional. He also proudly serves on the Duxbury Youth Baseball board. When he’s not coaching baseball, J.R. spends time on the beach in Duxbury, MA with his family.
