When Berry Dunn decided it was time to reinvent their image and move into a new space, they hired Lavallee Brensinger Architects and chose the UNUM Campus on Congress St. in Portland ME for their new home.
As part of a turnkey deal, UNUM then hired JC&A to redevelop two floors of the former single tenant building to serve as Berry Dunn’s new state-of-the-art Headquarters.
The final project includes 67,500 SF of office space, a 6,000 SF conference center, a 4,800 SF wellness facility and an expansive cafe.
Project highlights include a dense floorplate of private offices and privacy cubicles complimented by casual breakout areas to promote impromptu meetings. An extensive use of interior glass partitions was used to bring natural light deep into the space.
Interior materials and details like a living wall, natural wood-slat ceiling elements and unique LED light stragegies reinforce a compelling corporate image, which serves as a recruiting tool.
